Phillip J Brown Sr., MHS-C, LAC, NCC
Born and raised in Plainfield,NJ I was a product of a single parent household. Like most young men growing up in urban environments, I struggled with the lack of male guidance. Sports provided me with a safe space and the opportunity to engage with a positive male influence. Eventually I would leave Plainfield and attend college, going all the way through and obtaining my Master Degree from Lincoln University in PA. I was fortunate to have met positive role models along the way. Those interactions motivated me to begin a career working with the under-served populations such as youth, families and young fathers. My journey would come full circle with the birth of my son . I grew from my struggles and saw the birth of my son as an opportunity to give someone all the knowledge and wisdom I had acquired over the years. I began to ponder
" what if every young man had that one male figure they could rely on" It was at this moment my REBIRTH began.
I have worked with youth and families for over 25 years. Working in functions such as Operations Manager ( NJDOC Community Release) Unit Manager ( Youth Residential) Program Director ( YCS) Program Manager (Community Hope) Youth Advocate Program, Essex County Juvenile Detention Officer . My experiences have given me a 1st person view of what the lack of guidance and accessibility to quality services will do to our communities. Rebirth of a Man strives to change outcomes by, fostering positive guidance and person centered mental health services.
